The Village Sign

The village sign, seen in the top left hand corner of this page, was unveiled during October 1977 as part of Queen Elizabeth II silver jubilee commemorations. It has recently been repainted and replaced at the junction of Lincoln Road with Helpston Road and the High Strret.

As with many village signs it depicts the main elements of village life.

The first theme is the 12th Century parish church of St Benedict, originally a chapel of ease to the parish of Peakirk.

The 2nd theme on the sign is that of agriculture, which still surrounds the village. The sign depicts the figure of a man engaged in ploughing with a two horse team.
