Glinton Recreation Area Improvement Committee
“
Funds Promised”
Peterborough City Council have promised the village of Glinton £50,000
from it’s “Playbuilder Fund” – this money is
from the DCFS and is specifically for 8 -13 year olds.
As a result of the overwhelming support for development of the outdoor
play area in the Parish Council’s village survey, the Parish Council
have also pledged £25,000.
We have also applied for a grant of £20,000 from (COMMA) – an
aggregates fund. We will hear if we have passed the first stage mid-November.
The £50,000 from PCC has to be spent by the end of March 2009 – that
means the play area built and all bills paid! We have very little time.
Equipment needs to be ordered before Christmas.
As a group, as well as applying for further funding, we wish to ensure
that the wishes of the village (young and old) are represented in the
provision supplied. To achieve this, we have been busy surveying our
young people from toddlers to 13 year olds - through toddler groups,
play group and village schools. This information will be sent to playground
designers this week.
We have also distributed questionnaires for 13+ and adults – via
the Primary School and Post Office.
We hope to be able to present the designs to the village early December,
and let you choose your preferred option.
PLEASE BE A PART OF THIS EXCITING PROJECT BY MAKING SURE YOUR VIEWS
ARE INCLUDED.
