Welcome to Glinton.net the community site for the village of
Glinton. This web site aims to be a guide to the village including
local businesses and community
organisations as well as local news and
events.
Glinton is
a village of about 1700 people (census
1991) between Peterborough in Cambridgeshire, and Market Deeping
in Lincolnshire. We are separated from the main "urban
sprawl" of
Peterborough and the "New Township" of Werrington by the A15 Peterborough
bypass.
Glinton was mentioned in the Domesday Book and in fact, evidence
suggests that it dates from pre-history times. Certainly Stone
Age and Roman
remains have been found in and near the village.
If there are any details you feel are incorrect when looking through

Glinton.Net is pleased to announce that we get over 69,000 unique
visitors to the site over a 12 month period (in fact in the 11 months from 1st November 2006 to 22nd October 2007 we clocked up 68,280 unique
visitors - with over 7,200 in September 2007 and 6,647 in the first 22 days of October).
North Werrington Expansion
Visitors of this site may be aware of the proposed North Werrington housing development. Having visited the exhibition that was held about these proposals, it is the personal view of the webmaster of this site that many things will need to be sorted out. For example it seems that all traffic will join the Lincoln Road/A15 from the estate, as anyone that travels down the A15 into the centre of Peterborough will know this is a route that is already busy during the morning and evening rush hours. Also it seems that AMVC will have to grow to accommodate extra children from the new housing, with 2,500 extra houses being planned it makes me wonder how much larger the college would have to be.
More details of this proposal are on the North Werrington Expansion page of this web site
