Glinton Parish Council
Glinton Parish Council has become one of the few councils in the greater Peterborough area to be awarded Quality Parish Council status. This is only gained by a parish council after a rigorous examination of is it policies and practices along with a considerable amount of training by its members, the cornerstone of which is the gaining of the CiLCA award by the Clerk. Pictured is the Mayor of Peterborough, Cllr Marion Todd presenting the certificate of accreditation to the Chairman, Cllr John Holdich and the Clerk, Mr Dave Ellis. At the ceremony held on Friday 21st December in the village hall, which was attended by many prominent members of the community also pictured, Cllr Todd expressed the importance of all councils to strive for quality in procedures and delivery of services.
The Quality Parish and Town Council scheme was launched in June 2003, following the publication of the Government's Rural White Paper, 2000. The scheme is designed to provide benchmark minimum standards for parish and town councils, and enable them to better represent the communities they serve. The scheme also aims to enhance relationships between local councils, principal authorities and community and voluntary sector organisations.

The tests exceed the statutory duties of parish and town councils and represent the standards that an efficient, well run parish council should achieve.
